Earth Day

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day from the children and staff at Sunshine Children’s Home! We love spending time outdoors and are so grateful for the natural beauty that surrounds our beautiful Sunshine home. To celebrate, our staff took part in a fun and educational Earth Day game, sorting a bin of mixed items into labeled bins for mixed paper, garbage, and mixed containers. A great way to learn, laugh, and show some love to our planet!

Purim at Sunshine was pure magic!

The children stole the spotlight in their adorable costumes—kings and pirates, nurses and construction workers, Little Red Riding Hoods and Raggedy Anns, soldiers and sailors, astronauts and captains, plus a whole zoo of animals and their keepers! With bright smiles and treat bags in hand, it was a celebration full of laughter, warmth, and unforgettable moments!

Celebrating Barbara’s Remarkable 35-Year Journey at Sunshine

After 35 years of unwavering love, laughter, and care, our beloved Barbara McFarlane is retiring—and we’re finding it hard to put into words just how much she has meant to the Sunshine family. At Sunshine Children’s Home, we’re so lucky to have such wonderful volunteers who bring so much warmth, compassion, and joy to our children every day. This month, we’re shining a light on one of those volunteers: Maureen, who spends her weekends with the littlest residents in our Sapling Unit.

Valentine Pop-up Shop

Love was in the air at our Valentine Pop-Up Shop! Our YARP group brought extra joy to the building with their special Valentine goodies for staff to purchase. But the sweetest surprise? The heartfelt rose deliveries made by the children in YARP!  Last year, these roses were a huge hit, and it wasn’t just the beautiful blooms that made hearts melt — it was the smiles and love delivered along with them.
