Every child at Sunshine has the right to receive visitors how and when they want to as long as it does not impose on the rights of another resident. Visiting is always encouraged, welcomed and supported. Your social worker is your best resource for planning your visits with your child. Sunshine will keep families updated on any changes to our visitation policies, including times when visitors are subject to reasonable clinical and safety restrictions.
For your child’s protection and security, all visitors will be screened at the reception desk, asked to sign in and out and obtain a temporary ID Badge for access to your child’s unit. All visitors should be free of any potential infections when visiting.
Only visitors approved by the family/legal representative are allowed to visit. Adults only (a maximum of two persons) are allowed to visit in the child’s bedroom. All others are to visit in a common area designated for safe and interactive social time. Visitors under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times. When visiting during the school day, parents can make a request for early dismissal. Visits should not occur in any classroom. There will be times when your child’s activity may be determined by his/her or roommates’ medical status. Your medical team will make these decisions in the best interest of the child.
