We are looking for RESPIRATORY THERAPISTS with valid NY state respiratory care license to join our team. This opportunity is located at Sunshine Children’s Home, which is a 122-bed brand new state of the art licensed nursing facility that specializes in the care and treatment of medically complex children who require post-acute care. Current openings are for full time and per-diem Night shifts (6 pm – 6:30 am).
Job Description:
- Meets patient’s goals and needs and provides quality care by determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
- Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and supports life by administering inhalants; operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
- Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage; assisting with breathing exercises; monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, and blood chemistry changes.
- Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
- Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Awareness on Infection Control, Health Promotion and Maintenance
- Creates a safe and effective work environment
- Other tasks or assignment as directed by the Team Leader or Manager.
Job Requirements:
- RRT, RCP, CRTT or eligible and meeting the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) requirements.
- Valid state(s) Respiratory Care license
- Be able to follow procedure established by customer as well by corporate office
- Able to lift heavy objects from a squatting to standing position.
- Must possess good people skills, be able to followup and have great communication skills
- Must be detail oriented, well organized, be able to work independently and as a team member
