Benefit Coordinator

Position Overview: The Benefit Coordinator will play a crucial role in assisting the organization with securing payor sources for all residents. This position involves managing all transactions related to Medicaid eligibility, financial investigation, and ensuring proper enrollment in Managed Care (MC) plans. The role requires a high level of communication, organization, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Assessment & Medicaid Eligibility: Establish and verify Medicaid eligibility for residents prior to admission, ensuring continued eligibility throughout their stay.
  • Financial Investigation: Collaborate with family members or responsible parties to gather necessary financial information, such as income, bank accounts, and third-party insurance details.
  • Medicaid Application Processing: Process Medicaid applications, conversions, recertifications, and deferral notices.
  • Admissions Support: Oversee the admissions process, ensuring required documentation is collected and financial approval for admission is secured.

· Benefit Troubleshooting: Handle issues related to benefit cut-offs for Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security Insurance. Works with Finance to resolve issues affecting eligibility and payment of services, collaborating with Managed Care contracts for billing.

  • Regulatory Knowledge & Agency Relations: Maintain a strong understanding of state and federal regulations, building and nurturing positive relationships with relevant agencies.
  • Enrollment Management: Ensure all residents are properly enrolled in contracted Managed Care (MC) plans.
  • Collaboration with Finance: Work closely with the Finance team to resolve eligibility and payment issues, including billing with Managed Care contracts.
  • SSI Applications & Financial Management: Complete SSI applications, manage residents’ bank accounts, oversee direct deposit transactions, and monitor residents’ funds. Ensure mailing quarterly bank statements to parents/guardians.
  • Reporting & Monitoring: Maintain and distribute monthly reports on residents’ Medicaid eligibility and enrollment in contracted MC plans. Ensure all residents’ monthly income (NAMI) is accurately reported and collected.
  • Coordinator & Social Worker Interaction: Regularly interact with ACF Social Work staff, Managed Care personnel, parents, and Social Security representatives.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Prior experience in Nursing Home Medicaid Eligibility (Required)
  • In-depth knowledge of Medicaid eligibility and regulations (Required)

$27-30 per hr
